The 39th annual Mid America Ford and Shelby Nationals are right around the corner, and this year’s event marks Ford Motor Company’s decade-long commitment as an official sponsor for the event, held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from tomorrow (June 12) through Sunday.
"Ford Motor Company is proud to mark our 10th year as official sponsor of the Mid America Ford and Shelby Nationals,” says Paul Brearey, Ford marketing manager for enthusiast events, in a statement. “There is simply no other event quite like it. The combination of driving opportunities, shows, cruises and social gatherings created for car enthusiasts makes it truly unique. The Tulsa event is a celebration for genuine car people."
Starting on Wednesday, the Hallet Motor Racing Circuit will be holding a high-speed driving school with multiple days of open track action. Instructors will be onsite to help the drivers feel comfortable racing their own Ford vehicles. No need to feel intimidated, track experience levels range from beginner to expert.
Friday night will stray away from the track where those participating can enjoy a full-course dinner at the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills. Guest speakers include Ford’s own Dean Weber, a 35-year Ford veteran and the manager of archives and audiovisual assets. Expect Dean to share stories about the iconic brand, a common interest to everyone in attendance.
"Being a part of the Ford family has been both professionally and personally fulfilling for me,” says Weber. “I have had the privilege to capture key moments in Ford’s history and work with the company’s visionaries to tell our story. It has and continues to be a great honor, and I’m excited to share these experiences with the impassioned Ford fans in Tulsa."
Saturday should offer plenty of thrills as drag racers battle head-to-head at Tulsa Raceway Park. Also on Saturday, ride-and-drives will be held by Ford and feature cars and trucks such as the Mustang V6 and GT, Focus, and the F-150 and F-250, also at the Marriott Southern Hills. The all-new Fiesta ST will also be on hand.
Fast forward to Sunday and the All Ford Super Show brings the country’s largest gathering of Ford vehicles -- from old-school to modern muscle, race cars to classics. Hopefully you have a few days off and can enjoy the show while meeting some new Ford folks!
