Boom Mat Introduces Second Generation Heat and Sound Barrier: Floor & Tunnel Shield II

Keep heat and noise out of your classic Ford project with the help of DEI's Boom Mat products. Check out the details in the blog below.

Extreme heat can rob horsepower and damage sensitive internal performance components. Boom Mat, a leading manufacturer of performance thermal material, has now introduced a new high- tech, self-adhesive aluminum barrier that provides the ultimate in heat and sound protection. Boom Mat’s Floor & Tunnel Shield II is uniquely designed to reflect heat from any direct or radiant source.  Manufactured with a reflective 10 milliliter aluminum facing that is bonded to a 3/16” inch layer of composite glass insulation, Boom Mat’s Floor and Tunnel Shield II protects heat from ever entering the vehicle, unlike metal shielding and other competitive products. This added layer of protection can ensure your components are working at maximum capacity not to mention the benefit of improved cabin comfort. Proven to work effectively up to 1,750°F of direct continuous heat, Boom Mat’s Floor and Tunnel Shield II is the most cost effective way to control potentially damaging heat, reduce unwanted noise, and improve driver comfort.

Backed with a high bond adhesive liner this product can be easily trimmed and pressed onto any automotive, marine or commercial application where direct or radiant heat is present such as: gas tanks, fuel cells, exhaust or transmission tunnels, fire walls, floorboards or engine side panels.

In addition to its high quality thermal control properties, this product effectively doubles as an insulator to work as a sound barrier. With use there is a noticeable difference in passenger compartment comfort with less unwanted noise and heat. Easy to form and shape into multiple contours, along with minimum 3/16” clearance provides a range of use possibilities.

Floor and Tunnel Shield II is available in three sizes: 2’ X 21” (3.5 sq. ft.) part #050507, 4’ X 21” (7 sq. ft.) part #050508: and 4’ X 42” (14 sq. ft.) part #:050509.
