Project Generation Gap Update!

Gimme fuel, gimme fire! Ok, so maybe you're not a Metallica fan, but we've got a fuel system for our fastback, so fire can't be far behind. Check out the blog for all the details on this DROP IN solution for EFI swaps.

Some of you have likely heard of Aeromotive's fuel systems that are used in the new Ford Racing Cobra Jet race cars and found in countless high-performance street and drag late-model Mustangs. Well the folks at Aeromotive have joined forces with the gas tank experts at Tanks Inc. to find a home for their new 340-series fuel pumps. This new marriage is the perfect answer for us classic and muscle car fans looking for a fuel system solution for EFI engine swaps.

340 Aeromotive Pump Out of Tank

The new Aeromotive 340 pump is the perfect answer for street driven EFI engine swaps. The compact pump will support plenty of horsepower for our build (as we might do cams or even a blower in the future). Here we've pulled the pump from the tank for a closer look. The assembly mounts directly into the tank.

Aeromotive/Tanks Inc. Fuel Sump Tray

With the pump out we can get a good look at the fuel pump sump/tray that is used in this custom Tanks Inc. based fuel tank. This keeps fuel near the pickup screen during hard cornering, acceleration, and braking, unlike a frame rail mounted high pressure pump does (especially when the fuel level gets below a quarter tank!).

Aeromotive/Tanks Inc. Fuel Tank Test Fit 1968 Mustang

Of course we have a whole installation story lined up for an upcoming issue where we'll mount our tank, run our braided -6 lines, fit a filter and regulator to the system and more, but we couldn't resist popping the trunk lid on Generation Gap and test fitting the tank. Of course it fit like a glove and we're looking forward to bringing you the whole story soon.
