R-Model Racing Apron For ‘67-‘68 Mustang From Cobra Automotive

If you like the look of the R-Model Shelby apron check out this new apron from the folks at Cobra Automotive in today's blog.

Cobra Automotive now offers an R-Model type front racing apron for ’67-’68 Mustangs. It offers the same style and function as the ’65-’66 Shelby GT 350 R-Model apron, with parking light holes, brake duct holes, with flanges on the back for cooling ducts. Aside from its functionality, the apron also eliminates the awkward lip where the front bumper used to be.

The purpose of the competition apron on the early Shelby GT350 was to eliminate all the weight of the front bumper, bumper brackets, stone guard, stock lower pan, and bumperettes, for a total weight savings 24.6 lbs.

The aprons are made exclusively by Cobra Automotive to its own design from hand-laid fiberglass for a precise fit.  Finish is black gel-coat that’s ready for paint.  The apron will bolt right on, using the stock Mustang mounting points, with provisions to mount the stock grill, trim, and headlight assemblies.

COBRA AUTOMOTIVE specializes in a full range of specialty parts and high performance components for all ’65-’70 Mustangs and Shelbys.  Cobra Automotive, Inc., 37 Warehouse Point Road, Wallingford, CT 09492. (203)284-3863.  www.cobraautomotive.com.
