Project Generation Gap's Modular Engine Installed

Houston, we have touch down, er, bolt-in, or whatever. Check out the blog for the details and more photos!

That's right, more progress on our in-house '68 Fastback project. Over the last week, between deadlines, meetings, and tuning a Viper (don't ask), we finally got our 4.6L Three-Valve bolted into place on our Heidt's Superide II crossmember.

Project Generation Gap 68 Mustang Modular Engine

Doesn't she just look sweet sitting in that engine bay? The red MSD ignition coils give it a little color, but otherwise the 300 hp 4.6L Three-Valve is stock (for now!). Notice we've started to route the Control Pack wiring kit from Ford Racing as well.

Project Generation Gap 9-inch Rear

The Strange 9-inch is also back under the car now that all paint and body work is done and the front suspension is buttoned up as well. We're waiting on a starter index plate for the engine and then we can bolt up our five-speed automatic and measure for a driveshaft! Soon we'll be plumbing brake and fuel lines and tackling wiring. I think I can hear that starter spinning real soon!

Project Generation Gap Cooling System Mock Up

A quick mock up of the radiator hose and degas tank looks like we'll have plenty of room for a nice big aluminum radiator and fan setup (though we did set the engine back two inches for better handling too).

Stay tuned for more updates!
