Classic Recreations Moves Forward With Official Shelby Recreations

Read today's blog to learn more about the VIN tampering charges that were dropped and how Classic Recreations made lemonade from the lemons they were handed, and in turn are helping others who restore or repair classics.

You may remember that last year Classic Recreations was falsely accused of VIN tampering, all due to a misunderstanding about classic car restoration and the use of aftermarket sheet metal. All charges were eventually dropped, but a result of his experience, Jason Engel partnered with some car-friendly senators in Oklahoma to actually change the law, so the same thing that happened to him won't happen to anyone else.

Basically it will now be 100% legal to partially or completely rebody a car, including swapping the VIN tags, as long as you meet the following criteria:
- Starter car must have a clean title, not a salvage
- Replacement panels and/or body must be licensed by the oem manufacturer
- Replacement body must be the same as the original body (year/make/model)
- Builder will have to pay "rebody" fee
- They will be issued a new title with an asterisk and the word "rebody" on it

Classic Recreations founder Jason Engel, and his company’s team of skilled technicians and craftsmen, have been modifying and custom fabricating high-performance vehicles for more than 10 years. Classic Recreations has been honored by The Robb Report as "Best of the Best" and by the DuPont Registry as a Publisher's Choice and is now building the only officially licensed Shelby GT500 recreations.

The G.T.500CR is a hand-built continuation car based on a 1967 Mustang, fully licensed by racing legend Carroll Shelby. Each car blends the iconic styling of a classic Shelby with modern performance and reliability. All three G.T.500CR models feature hand-built 427 cubic inch (7.0L) engines, custom paint and hand-stitched upholstery. The "Intro" model is powered by a 545hp fuel injected 427. The "Performance" model adds rack and pinion steering and modern coilover suspension for modern sports car handling. The "Venom" model features a 780hp supercharged engine, chassis upgrades and more.
