The Old Girl Still Has It

Our nearly 10 year old restoration project takes two awards. See today's blog for the details.

There's a fairly large Labor Day car show that happens every year in our town and I've been to about seven of the nine shows they've held. This year I really wanted to bring our Factory Five Roadster to display, as my friend was bringing his and we had plans to park together. But with a 60 percent chance of rain in the early afternoon and no roof for the Roadster I erred on the side of caution and pulled the Mustang out of the garage. I restored the '66 Mustang coupe over a couple of years from '99 to about '02. Until we built the Roadster the Mustang was our sole show car and it went everywhere. Over the years it has gotten its share of scratches, dings, and whatnot and it's showing its age with some crud on the engine and light pitting in a few of the chrome parts, but it's still fun to drive. I basically brought the car to support the church that holds the car show every year and my Mustang club (six of us drove our Mustang's together to the show) so I was completely shocked to not only get a sponsor's choice ribbon during the show, but to be called for a trophy too at the end of the day was something else. Especially when there were but 20 trophies and nearly 400 cars!

I guess as I stated above, the old girl still has it!
