Goodguys 5th Bridgestone Nationals Partners with Hands on Nashville to aid Flood Victims
The event aims to raise money for victims of this past month's flooding. Read our blog for the full details.
The Goodguys 5th Bridgestone Rod & Custom Nationals May 21-23 at LP Field has a new aim. In light of the recent and tragic flooding of the greater Nashville area, the event will now serve as more than automotive entertainment. Goodguys has partnered with Hands on Nashville to help raise money for the victims of the flood. Hands On Nashville is a local volunteer network, recognized leader in programs, partnerships and services that maximize volunteer impact for youth, adult, corporate, and nonprofit constituencies in the greater Nashville community. Each year, HON refers or places 38,000 volunteers to projects in more than 300 area service agencies and schools.
The 5th Bridgestone Nationals, envelopes the entire LP Field with over 2,000 hot rods, custom cars, muscle cars and trucks. The vibe given off by the cars and people has always been uplifting and colorful but this year offers an opportunity to give back to the event’s host city in a time of need. “We’re going to do our best to offer whatever assistance we can to the city of Nashville,” said Goodguys event director Bill Goodwill. “We saw the footage TV. We know there are people here in town that lost everything. For every dollar raised at the event, Goodguys will match it dollar for dollar. Hot rodding has always been a family hobby and a fun hobby. We are a close knit fraternity and we can make a difference. ”
Flood relief donation kiosks will be set up at the ticket gates throughout LP Field all three event days. There are other ways to help as well.
The 5th Bridgestone Nationals gets underway Friday, May 21st and runs through Sunday, May 23rd. General admission is $18, kids 7-12 $6. In addition to the acres of gleaming hot rods fans will have a multitude of activities to enjoy including a manufacturer’s midway, the autocross (an electronically timed vehicle agility course), live entertainment, a swap meet and car corral plus more. The event is just as much fun for the kids as it is the adults. Children’s activities (free with admission) include the always popular “Make and Take” model car exhibit at which youngsters can assemble a complete snap-together model kit to take home courtesy of Revell. Face painting and balloon animals will also be featured as well as a coloring contest at the PPG Paint exhibit.
