Deep Into Bodywork, Our '68 Project Moves Forward
Check out our '05 door handle conversion in today's blog...
For our '68 Mustang project Generation Gap, part of the project's name is due to the various generations of Mustangs that we're cribbing parts and ideas from. Take for instance our outside door handles. Since we're modernizing the car's looks with removal of most chrome/bright trim we wanted a body color flush-mounted door handle. We really like the '05 and up door handles and asked the proverbial "what if" and this is what we got.
The '05 door handles came from a wrecked race car and after some careful measuring and trimming they were easily welded into place by Classic Creations of Central Florida (www.classiccreationsfl.com). After some minor hammer and dolly work and a pass with the grinder they are ready for some final body work.
To see all of the steps, plus how we hooked them up to the '68's door latches you'll have to wait for the story to come out in an upcoming issue of the magazine. Stay tuned for more.
