The "Shaker" Is In The House
Like you, we love a great collectible diecast. Check out the news on the latest from GMP in our blog below.
Ford’s Total Performance era made many famous racers even more famous; to the point of legendary some will say. One of those racers, whom we’ve had the direct pleasure of meeting at various events over the years, is Hubert Platt, the Georgia Shaker. Known for his on and off the track antics, he was called a “controversial racing showman” in local newspapers. Hubert’s Georgia Shaker took many shapes, but none was more memorable than his Ford Thunderbolt. These special lightweight Fairlanes, stuffed full of 427 FE power and little else, made Ford a household name in drag racing circles and now our friends at GMP Diecast, a household name themselves, have given us Ford fans a diecast truly to be proud of.
Hubert Platt’s Thunderbolt has been recreated in 1/18th scale detail, including opening doors, hood, and trunk, with all of the features that made the Thunderbolt famous. Dressed in the Georgia Shaker paint scheme and ready for your favorite display spot, GMP is offering them for $119.95. For those wanting the ultimate in collectability Hubert himself will be signing only 250 examples of this diecast.
