The SFI Foundation Tests and Certifies Products To Keep you Safe

A recent web video shows just how explosive stock parts in high-performance applications can be. Read our blog for more.

We constantly scour the web looking for news and entertainment tidbits related to Mustangs and Fords. We have a whole slew of web sites we visit daily where we read the day's posts and learn something new.

While recently visiting www.fordfe.com, a great site devoted to FE powered Fords and their die hard owners, we spotted a thread posting about a dyno pull. We love power as much as the next guy and wanted to see the engine specs and video. While the engine detailed sounded extremely healthy, the post was about what happened on the dyno. In a time crunch it was decided to use a stock cast iron flywheel for a few dyno pulls instead of the SFI one the owner had. If you click through to the site and look at the video and accompanying pictures you'll see what happened.

Luckily no one was hurt (except for the owner's wallet) and hopefully we've all learned a valuable lesson about using the proper parts for the power level intended. Sure, speed parts aren't cheap and it's tempting to use that stock damper or clutch setup, but do yourself a favor and upgrade to SFI certified parts. For more about the SFI Foundation check out their web site at www.sfifoundation.com.
