Progress Continues on Our '68 Mustang Fastback Project
Our Strange 9-inch gets mocked up and more, read our blog for the update...
There's a little down time between each issue of the magazine, usually just a few days, where we can schedule shop time for our various projects and make a little progress. Recently we blogged about our Strange (www.strangeengineering.net) 9-inch arriving at MM&F World HQ. Well we found a little time to roll the '68's body shell onto the lift and we mocked up our 9-inch for proper fit and to measure for our rear wheels. The Heidt's (www.heidts.com) four link install/mock up went perfectly and the Stainless Steel Brakes (www.ssbrakes.com) were temporarily installed as well. It looks like the brake calipers will have to go on the forward side of the rotor (the brackets easily flip for multiple mounting options) to clear the welded on panhard bracket, but that's no big deal.
We even threw a pair of late-model Mustang wheels on the car to check backspacing and ride height. Now all that's left before heading for paint and body is to lower the 4.6 Three-Valve into place and welding up our engine mounts. Stay tuned for more progress here in our blogs and in the magazine.
