2009 Ford Racing Invitational Just Around The Corner
Editor Houlahan once again battles other editors in a all-Ford showdown. Read the blog for more details.
We're packing our bags for one of our most anticipated trips of the season; the thrid annual Ford Racing Invitational, held in conjunction with the NMRA Milan, Michigan event this coming weekend, June 12 and 13, 2009. Long time readers will remember I only got mid-pack in the first annual race before running out of fur on my lucky rabbit's foot (though we did get best reaction time and number one qualifying spot). Last year at the second annual race we came ready to win. Ford Racing provides the cars and I drew their black on black '05 GT (dubbed the Sinister Minister) with CNC ported heads, Hot Rod cams, cold air induction, exhaust, gears, and more. The N/A combination was a blast to drive, and very easy as well (no boost to deal with) and I was also lucky that some more die-hard drag race types red lit early on, putting me in the finals and eventually into the winner's circle.
This year I'll be hitting the track once again in Ford Racing provided Mustangs and the list of contenders (or shall we say victims) is quite impresive:
Race Pages Magazine Greg Acosta
Road and Track Tom Wilson
Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Steve Baur
Popular Hotrodding Liz Miles
Car Craft Doug Glad
5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Steve Turner
Hot Rod Bill McGuire
Mustang Enthusiast Larry Jewett
Autoweek Roger Hart
Power TV James Lawrence
Autoblog Sam Abulsamid
Car and Driver Mike Sutton
I've got some strategies and a trick or two up my sleeve (and hopefully a few of my competitors will red light again!) and we'll see if I can make it two for two. As you can see by the image above I'm hoping for the best. LOL!
So stay tuned as we hope to get a blog in on Friday about our first day at the track and come back next week for photos and final race information, and if you're planning on attending the Milan NMRA race stop by the Ford Racing tent and say hello, wish me luck, or feel free to "accidentally" break my competitor's shifting hand. Just kidding on that last one--I think... ;-)
