Project LPGT Sees Engine Fit and Sheetmetal Updates
Kevin Tetz Updates us on his LPGT project (bi-fuel Terminator powered '66 Mustang) in our blog today.
Besides Kevin's hectic filming schedule for Trucks! TV, he also travels for speaking engagements and still runs his own shop. We're pretty sure he has next to nothing in the spare time department, yet he's slowly building a wicked '66 Mustang coupe for himself with some of the popular restomodding practices being done today, such as the 4.6L Four-Valve "Terminator" he's dropped down on the Muscleup Chassis he's using. Other factors of the project though are one-offs and he's on his own, such as using S197 Mustang headlights. To top if all off the Terminator will be bi-fuel capable.
Kevin sent us a few update photos and we wanted to share them with our site visitors. You'll be seeing some of the project in the magazine in 2010 as well.
In our opening photo Kevin has the engine situated on the chassis's mounts. He's planning to make the front clip a bolt-in affair, removable for servicing, etc. This photo shows the front fender aprons and supports, core support, and fenders all test fit for the bolt-on setup.
Because Kevin is keeping the T-56 six-speed manual from his Terminator donor he had to mod the trans tunnel in order to fit the beefy transmission. He grafted in a section of the late-model tunnel for the shifter opening so that during final assembly the weather boot from the late-model will bolt right on. How cool is that?
