Making Progress!

Our Project Generation Gap's 4.6L Three-Valve Gets Dressed for Duty

Behind the scenes here at Modified Mustangs & Fords there's a multitude of action always happening. When you think about it, we're creating stories for a magazine that won't be read for almost three months down the road. It takes a lot of planning to keep a project car progressing through each month of the magazine.

For instance, while our readers are just now seeing part two of the sheetmetal repair and fastback body conversion, we've already been working on the body work, compiling the suspension parts (and welding in the rear suspension brackets), steering, A/C system, wiring, interior parts, and more. These things need to be ordered way in advance and litterally stock-piled in our shop to keep the progress moving forward.

4.6L Three-Valve Engine-Before

One thing we recently had the chance to tackle was our grimey 4.6L Three-Valve engine, shown here to the left. We took the slightly used and abused engine, degreased it, replaced a few gaskets, added some fresh spark plugs, Ford Racing chrome cam covers, a PA Performance high-amp alternator, a stock take-off intake (courtesy of our friends at Roush), and some Steeda billet pulleys to give the Three-Valve a new life, as shown in our blog's lead-in photo. We're still waiting for our engine wiring and some coil packs, but she'll be ready for installation when the body comes back from paint. So keep looking for those project car stories in upcoming issues!
