Moving Forward: Our Project Mustang Gets Media Blasted

Editor Houlahan's on Day 4 of his coverage of our coupe to fastback conversion. Read more about the work to convert our '68 in the blog...

Bright and early this morning the Drake Customs guys brought our welded fastback shell to their local media blaster. Since there wasn't much I could do but sit and wait for the blasting work to complete I slept in a little and met up with the guys around 9am.

1968 Ford Mustang Window Opening

Luckily, the body shell was ready for pickup within minutes of my arrival. Once the blasted shell was back in the Drake Customs (www.drakecustoms.com) shop the crew got busy welding up the new pinholes the blasting media uncovered. The guys also got started on the fastback window opening trim and the inner structures that Drake Customs fabricate just for their conversions.

Heidt's Superride II Mustang Front Suspension

Shortly after lunch our Heidt's (http://www.heidts.com/) Superide II front suspension showed up. I picked up a few tools myself and assembled the system for photos. Tomorrow the inner structure gets finalized, the Heidt's kit gets installed, and we'll work on a few more custom touches (like welding up the firewall holes). Hang on for more tomorrow...
