Editor Houlahan wraps up his trip to Drake Customs and a week's worth of late nights to complete our fastback conversion in record time. Check out the blog for the last of the details and be sure to read all about the project starting with our June 2009 issue, on newsstands May 5th, or better yet, just subscribe!
On Day 6 our fastback conversion was looking good at Drake Customs (www.drakecustoms.com). All of the welding and alignment work was done and all that was left was to perform a few standard bodywork operations on the fastback roof panel seams (how the shells go out to all Drake Customs customers) and to lay down a nice coat of epoxy primer to protect our fresh metal.
Once the primer had been applied and given sufficient drying time the Heidt's Superide II suspension components (http://www.heidts.com) dry fit for shipping back to our offices. Later, when we paint the body shell we'll give the Heidt's tubular arms a nice coat of paint as well and install the front suspension for good.
Stay tuned for the full details on our week here at Drake Customs starting with our June 2009 issue.
