Editor Houlahan's blog today centers around the updates inside our '68 to allow the fastback interior to fit, plus Drake Customs wraps up our front sheetmetal.

Well, another day has come to a close here at Drake Customs (www.drakecustoms.com) and we're closing in on the completion of not only Drake's fastback conversion, but all of our sheetmetal repairs that the rest of the car needed.

With the exterior metal fully welded and in place the guys at Drake got underway today installing their custom made dimple die reinforced interior braces, as well as their own hand made versions of the original fastback interior trim and seat mounting brackets. It was a time sensitive part of the project, taking the better part of the day to get everything fit and welded into place using their custom fixture, pre-set mounting points, and a little trial fitting/trimming, which every car will need.

In the afternoon, once the Heidts (www.heidts.com) cradle was fully welded, the guys fitted the rest of the front structure, including the inner fender aprons and core support. Some final door gap fitment work, and a little body working of the fastback seams and the newly rejuvenated fastback shell was ready for a coat of epoxy primer. Now we'll just have to wait patiently for Reliable Carriers to pick up our project and transport it back to Florida for us to finalize the body work and install our fiberglass parts from Maier Racing. More soon when the project gets delivered.
