Mustang fans come in all shapes and sizes, just like the Mustang itself. Check out the blog for more info on this great video we stumbled across...

My music tastes run the full range. From '70s album rock, to the latest metal; from '80s hair bands to rap. You name the genre and there's something in it Ilike. When I first got wind of Five For Fighting's song "'65 Mustang" it was from an email from a friend questioning the year of the Mustang used in a tribute video posted on www.youtube.com. I checked out the video, which can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECipNChIi_g and really enjoyed the tune. Though I couldn't place the voice. So off I went to Five for Fighting's web site at www.fiveforfighting.com and that's when I realized the voice came from John Ondrasik. You might remember John wrote "Superman", which, while it was released pre 9/11, it become a national anthem that helped the country heal after 9/11. He played the song at the now famous The Concert for New York, which paid tribute to fire fighters, police, port authority workers, and more affected by those tragic events.

The song reference's John's father's '65 Mustang fastback, which his dad purchased new. John came home from the hospital in the fastback when he was born and also drove the car through his college years. When he got his first record deal he restored the car (he painted it purple while in college) and gave it back to his dad. His dad did, however, let John borrow it once again to bring his own son home from the hospital when he was born as well.

'65 Mustang is a great song in itself, but John slips references to Mustang in other songs of his as well, like California Justice, found on his latest album Two Lights. Two Lights is Five For Fighting's fourth release and is worth the price of admission just for the '65 Mustang song.

Be sure to check out John's web site for audio samples, lyrics, show dates, and more.

Oh, and as for the tribute video (which is really cool by the way), it's a '66 Mustang used for the shooting, but the creators of the video, Jason Emert and Daniel Jepson, are honest about it and mention that fact in their notes sidebar on the video page.
