We had a neighbor who owned a 1964 289 Cobra similar to this one. He didn’t drive the car very often but we would see him out and about in it from time to time. It was British Racing Green with a saddle tan interior. It had wire wheels. I remember that it was so pretty glistening in the afternoon sun that it was almost physically painful to look at. The little “Powered by Ford” emblem on the fender said it all. You didn’t need to say genuine Cobra because back in those days there was no such thing as a replica. It seemed almost tiny and you could just tell by looking that it was 1000 pounds lighter than a Corvette. We saw the Cobra go out onto the Boulevard a couple of times on those warm summer nights. His car was fast but he didn’t beat on it. He didn’t need to beat on it. A neighbor on the other side of us had an E-Type (XKE) Jaguar. It was a black over yellow roadster with the V-12 but that’s another story.
