There's no doubt that racing is an expensive sport, be it go-carts to NASCAR. To be competitive means testing, practice, spare parts, drivers, road crew, and more. Ford Racing's FR500C has been a succesful program in the Grand-Am series and now they've come up with the FR500S with the folks at Miller Motorsports Park.
Officially titled the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge For The Miller Cup, the new spec series is centered around Ford Racing's $75,000 FR500S turn-key racecar. Built on the Auto Alliance assembly line with the rest of the world's Mustangs, and finish assembled at Watson Engineering (roll cage, Lexan windows) and Miller Motorsports, the turn-key race car is the first available to the public directly from your local Ford dealer.
The inaugural race at Road Atlanta in May is now in the books, but the 22 car field and close door to door racing made for an exciting event. Look for full coverage of the series in the pages of the new Modified Mustangs & Fords magazine!
You'll also be able to see a behind scenes video of the series on Discovery's HD Theater. For viewing times check out www.turbo.com and for more info on the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge For The Miller Cup please see www.millercup.com.
