Doug Evans to Lead The SEMA Political Action Committee

Source Interlink Veteran Heads Up SEMA Group

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. -- (Feb. 5, 2008) – Source Interlink’s Doug Evans has been appointed the new chairman of the SEMA Political Action Committee (PAC). SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, is a trade association representing the automotive specialty-equipment industry. Its 7,094 members manufacture, distribute and sell products that enhance the styling and functionality of cars, trucks and SUVs.

The SEMA PAC brings together the resources of its members and the industry to form a larger cumulative voice on Capitol Hill. A strong and effective SEMA PAC is a crucial resource to help elect candidates who recognize the important role the specialty equipment industry plays in the economy and who are willing to work with SEMA on the issues that affect its members.

“The SEMA PAC presents members with an opportunity to play a major role in our industry’s future and we’re honored to have a recognized leader in Doug spearheading SEMA’s legislative efforts,” said Linda Spencer, SEMA PAC treasurer.

Evans is an industry veteran and long-time SEMA member. In addition to his involvement in the SEMA PAC, Evans serves on the SEMA Board of Directors and is the senior vice president and group publisher at Source Interlink Media. Formerly known as Primedia, Source Interlink publishes dozens of leading automotive enthusiast books, including Mustang & Fords, Mustang Monthly, 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords, Car Craft, Chevy High Performance, Engine Masters, Hot Rod, Muscle Car Review and Popular Hot Rodding.

PACs are funded by personal contributions, since associations such as SEMA are prohibited from using association funds to make political contributions. However, SEMA is allowed to fund all administrative costs of running the PAC, so 100 percent of the contributions made to the SEMA PAC are used to help elect industry-friendly legislators.
