FFR Roadster Painted

Our Factory Five Roadster project, Snake Charmer, is officially painted! Here's a few sneak peak photos straight from the paint booth!

The guys at KR Performance & Restorations have been braving the cold and keeping the booth warm while they've laid down our Tungsten Gray base with Satin Silver Effect stripes. Bob Roeder of KR Performance graciously provided these images of our project still drying in the paint booth just to wet our appetites! Take a look, and be sure to see the whole paint process unfold in the pages of Mustang & Fords soon!

The body is in KR's paint booth, fully blocked and sealed. The guys began by "jambing" the car with the Tungsten. It's best to get all the nooks and openings now so that when the main panels are painted you don't have to stop to catch an edge or opening, causing a run in the paint.

The stripe color, Satin Silver Effect, is applied down the middle of the car and then the stripes are laid out on the body with fine line tape.

Once the stripes are laid out (essentially blocked off with paper and tape) the main body color of Tungsten Gray can be applied to the whole car.

After the base has been applied the stripe paper and tape is removed and the first coat of clear is applied. Later they'll color sand the car and apply more clear, giving it depth and burying the stripe edges for a smooth finish.

A quick shot from the rear shows off the beautiful curves of the body and the proportion of the stripes, which are tapered for the perfect look.
